About - Red Bull Breaking 2011

The Red Bull BreaKING, launched for the first time in 2010, is the first Regional BBoy Championship in the Middle East, based on a one-to-one battle format.
It consists of National Qualifiers in each of the participating countries [Qatar, Oman, UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, KSA, Lebanon, and Egypt for 2011 ] where the top 2 BBoys from each country would be sent to represent their countries in the Red Bull BreaKING Middle East Final Battle; taking place in Jordan, Jerash on Oct. 7th 2011.
One regional BBoy King representing the Middle East will have the chance to compete next year at the International Red Bull BC One Qualifier and will travel this year to Moscow, Russia to attend the competition 2011 finals and watch the best international BBoys setting the floor on fire while compete for the ultimate title.

BBoying which is often referred to as “breaking” or unfavorably “break dancing” started during the late 1970s in the Bronx, NY and is a foundational element of Hip Hop culture along with DJing, MCing and Graffiti art. The term "BBoy” or "BBoying" which refers to the dance, the moves, the breaks and the lifestyle, originated in New York and was coined by Kool Herc who was one of the pioneering Hip Hop DJs throwing jams in the Bronx.
Battling, which refers to the act of conformational BBoying, is not just about dance skills but also reputation, character and dominance. Therefore, BBoys are required to throw down the best technical moves while maintain a tight flow & an overall dominant representation.
Today, an evolving and well-connected BBoy and BGirl scene thrives around the world. South Korea, France and the USA boast some of the most vibrant and talented dancers on the planet, however, the Middle East BBoy scene is also growing fast with the levels rising year on year; and the best testimony to that was 2010's BBoy King [BBoy Lazy from KSA] participation at the Red Bull BC One Istanbul Qualifier and officially representing the Middle East on the International scale. With BBoys & BGirls constantly following their passions and growing the Break community in the Middle East, we will one day have an International BBoy King that hails from our region ... till then ... we work the floor.
